Kraemer wins contract for Woodmen widening in Springs
Edward Kraemer and Sons has been chosen as the contractor for the Woodmen Road widening project, which will widen Woodmen to three lanes in each direction from east of Interstate 25 to Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs. The project also will include an interchange at Woodmen and Academy, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.
Funded with $35 million in federal stimulus money and more than $7 million from the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority, the project is scheduled to last two years. The city said Kraemer had the best technical proposal and its bid came in less than the estimated cost.
“They offer an aggressive schedule and real recognition of the obligations to neighbors, businesses and commuters during and after construction,” added Dan Krueger, city engineering project manager.
