Repair to I-70 overpass at Silt will last through Aug. 12

Jul. 29, 2009 | 10:54 pm No comments

Eastbound I-70 traffic will be detoured up and over the off and on-ramps at the Silt exit while work crews from Flame On Inc. repair two steel girders that were bent in a collision with a high-load tractor trailer.

The work will cost $140,000, which the Colorado Department of Transportation plans to recoup from the insurance carrier for Screaming Eagle Trucking of Silt. One of its drivers was hauling a water tank on I-70 on July 26 when the tank struck the girder.

The contractor will repair the bent steel by heating it and straightening it.
